Is A Mummy A Zombie??

For this week’s Throwback Thursday Zombie Flick Pick, I purposely picked a film that may be a great topic of discussion for you zombie lovers out there.

And well, honestly…I would like to hear your opinions!

the mummyThe Mummy is a 1999 fantasy/adventure film loosely remade from the 1932 movie of the same name. It stars Brendan Fraser as Rick, a guy on an archaeological dig who accidentally awakens a mummy.

This movie was entertaining I thought, really because I like Brendan Fraser. But it’s definitely a movie you should watch just for the hell of it if you’ve never seen it.

However, do you think it is worthy of my Throwback Thursday Zombie Flick Pick Gallery?

The question here is, are mummies considered zombies? In the movie, a 3,000-year-old mummy returns from the dead. He reanimates. He comes back to life…the definition of a zombie.

And actually as I write this, I am realizing that in most vampire stories, the vampires are the walking dead too! They are reanimated corpses! So, are they zombies as well?

I know, I know. They are all different. Zombies need human flesh. Vampires need human blood. And mummies…they’re wrapped up and suck the life out of you and all that good stuff. In the supernatural world, they all have their own characteristics that separate them from each other.

But if you think about it, they really aren’t that much different.

Let’s stay on the main question here, though. Are mummies considered zombies?
