It’s Labor Day Weekend
As I scroll down my Facebook page, I notice that many of my friends are off to a relaxing couple of days on the beach. I guess you can say I’m a little jealous.
I love the beach! Although Louisiana isn’t known for its many or really popular beaches to visit, a nice beach in Florida is only a 3 hour car ride. As a kid and a teenager, we would take road trips to Florida all the time.
The white sand, calm and warm turquoise water, and soft Florida breeze is like heaven to me…despite the fact that I will not go deeper than waist deep in the ocean. I’m a good swimmer, but not good enough to swim the open water.
Since I’ve lived in California, I have only been to the beaches here a handful of times. I don’t know if it’s because I am so used to the Gulf and Atlantic Ocean, but I found the beaches here are…not my style. The water is the not the beautiful, sparkling blue shade of color the ocean should be, and the waves are just too high and FREEZING even in the summer. With the exception of Laguna Beach, I didn’t find them to be all that appealing.
Unfortunately, my husband and I will be staying home this weekend with our little Dragons. However, if I was home in New Orleans, we would have planned a trip to our favorite getaway destination in Florida months in advance…
Have a safe and wonderful weekend! Oh, and if you’re searching for a fun book to read while you bask in the sun, download my novel “Turning Grace”! Links to the eBook are located under Books 🙂
