No Throwback Thursday Flick Pick…Let’s Look Ahead Instead!

Instead of looking back on zombie movies this Thursday, we are looking ahead!

Since we are starting a new year, I have chosen a few zombie flick picks set to release in 2015.

And just wait! There is a HUGE surprise at the end of this list!

If you would like to see more upcoming horror movies, click here for IMDB’s list

Day of the Dead

day of the dead

This is going to be the second remake of George Romero’s 1985 classic of the same name. Day of the Dead is one of 5 movies. It goes like this:

  1. Night of the Living Dead
  2. Dawn of the Dead
  3. Day of the Dead
  4. Land of the Dead
  5. Diary of the Dead

I enjoy the remakes of these films and feel like they just get better and better. So, if you are a George Romero fan, be sure to keep tabs on when this one comes out.

Daylight’s End

If you want to follow a group of people trying to survive a zombie outbreak, this seems like it would be a good movie for you. There aren’t many known actors, but if you have seen Aliens or Terminator or even the heartwrenching tearjerker Powder, then you are probably a Lance Henriksen fan. I know I am!

The Lazarus Effect

the lazarus effect

As revealed through found footage, a group of medical researchers attempt to reawaken the dead, only to find that they’ve created another monster entirely.

Now I am not sure this movie is a “zombie” flick, but anything about reawakening the dead is quite close to it. Its stars Olivia Wilde and Evan Peters

Hidden

Here is another movie that doesn’t exactly scream Zombie!, but the synopsis reads “A family takes refuge in a fallout shelter for 301 days to avoid a dangerous outbreak before hearing threatening heavy breathing and booming footsteps”.

And if you are a True Blood fan, you’re gonna love that Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) stars in it! He looks super skinny in the pic (probably for the role), but he’s still hot in my book.

Kitchen Sink

Here is one that I am interested in seeing because well…it just sounds really interesting.

In the town of Dillford, it used to be that vampires, humans and zombies used to get along, but then something unexpected arrived and now it’s humans vs. vampires vs. zombies in all-out mortal combat. Now three teenagers must try to get things back to “normal.”

I’m curious to see how this will go. It stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl).

Maggie

maggie movie

This one has me a little worried! I know there are many books and movies out in the world that will come out or have already been out (and I just don’t know about them) that have the same kind of idea as my novel Turning Grace. But this flick seems awfully close!

A teenage girl in the Midwest becomes infected by an outbreak of a disease that slowly turns the infected into cannibalistic zombies. During her transformation, her loving father stays by her side.

I am super excited to see my man Arnold Schwarzenegger in a post-apocolyptic film, but I really hope people don’t start to say I knocked ideas off this film for my book! I have already been accused of that, for a movie that I didn’t even know existed. So just a little heads up before this movie is released, Mine Came Out First!

And last but certainly not least (click the IMDB link above for more listings), the SURPRISE!

I read an article that Dead Island is being made into a movie!

That’s right, my favorite (and hopefully yours too) zombie video game is coming to the big screen. With real people and all! Now I don’t have an inside scoop or anything, but here is the article on Gamespot if you want to learn more.

Well, it looks like us zombie fans have a lot to look forward to this upcoming year.

Next week will be the normal Throwback Thursday Zombie Flick Pick, so if you have any suggestions that aren’t already in my gallery, please share!
