My name is J.Q. Davis. You can call me Jo.
Since this is my OFFICIAL author website, I’m going to give you all more of a bio than what my Amazon or Twitter pages say.
I am married and live in New Orleans, Louisiana with my hubby and two dogs. Yes, we are dog freaks! They are no longer dogs to us. They are our daughters, with voices and all.
I’m a southern girl, but when I met my husband, who is a Marine, he got orders to California. Being the dreamer and romantic that I am, I decided to follow him. And let me tell you, it was the best decision I ever made.
It had been six long years but just a couple of months ago, we finally made it back to the place where it all started. It was tough being away from family and friends. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. I say, hell no! Distance sucks!
I’ll skip to the writing part.
Writing has always been something that I enjoyed doing. When I was younger, I wrote mostly short stories in the mystery or horror genre. My teenage years were packed with staying up late, working, and hanging out friends. I was too busy to continue my short story writing, but kept journals here and there. Writing was essential to me for sharing my feelings…it just seemed like an easier way to express them.
I got the idea for Turning Grace while watching Return of the Living Dead 3. Horror and the whole notion of zombies had always been intriguing. Really, anything supernatural or sci-fish.
I’m moving backwards a few years for a moment: When I was 21, I was diagnosed with a liver disease. It’s a pretty serious condition and something that changed my life.
So…that coupled with my obsession with horror and zombies gave me the idea to create a character who was part zombie, part human. Someone who is battling a disease. Someone like me.
So there you have it! That’s me!
